A Dutch court has issued a ruling against the retailer Lidl regarding the sale of footwear. The legal decision prohibits the company from continuing to sell sandals identified as copycats of the Birkenstock brand.
The court determined that the products sold by Lidl infringed upon the rights of the original manufacturer. Consequently, the retailer must cease all sales of the specific sandal models involved in the dispute.
In addition to the sales ban, the court has ordered Lidl to provide financial compensation to Birkenstock. The ruling also mandates that Lidl cover the legal fees incurred during the proceedings.
This decision concludes the legal action brought before the court regarding the imitation of the footwear designs. The retailer is now required to comply with the terms set forth by the judicial authority.
